The pandemic transformed the college experience for everyone. UNC Charlotte’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and Audiovisual Integration and Support for Learning Environments (AISLE) departments responded with rigorous professional development, learning space design support, and resources for teaching in online and blended environments. Recognition that many of our students face social and economic injustice has led to logistical and pedagogical decisions supporting a culture of care. AISLE pursued technologies to support accessible online and blended delivery that would outlast the pandemic and position the university for the “new normal.” The CTL moved professional development activities online and developed needs-based programming and faculty-led seminars to quickly acclimate instructors to online and blended teaching, focusing on successful student outcomes. This presentation covers how UNC Charlotte approached the opportunity to implement these forward-thinking changes.
